We are a Scholarly Interest Group within the Society of Cinema and Media Studies. Membership in our group is contingent upon membership in SCMS. Our website is public, and open to inquiry. We maintain a private Facebook Group for internal, group-specific communications.
What We Do
We seek provide a scholarly community for SCMS members working on studio-era cinema.
We encourage the cross-pollination of new methodologies while furthering research into the history and aesthetics of Hollywood in the 20th century.
We aim to bridge the gap between long-standing traditions of classical-cinema scholarship and the new challenges of the contemporary media landscape.
