Call for Papers: Long Beach Indie Film, Media, and Music Conference

The Long Beach Indie International Film, Media, and Music Festival is looking for scholars, filmmakers, archivists, musicians, journalists, and digital media producers to bring their art, intellect, and energy to our 2016 Film, Media, and Music Conference (August 31-September 4, 2016).

We welcome individual papers and full panels representing any topic (e.g. theory, production, history, criticism, preservation, etc.) related to film, television, music, mass communication, digital media or the entertainment industry broadly defined.

We are also issuing a special call for papers interrogating or celebrating the theme: “Gender, Race, and Hollywood.”

Showcasing global diversity, Long Beach Indie brings together scholars and entertainment industry professionals for a one-of-a-kind dialogue. In past years Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy, Grammy, ALMA, AMA, and NAACP Image Award winners and nominees have served as presenters and commentators. In addition to panels, forums, and keynotes, participants will enjoy world premiere film screenings, concerts, parties, and miles of beautiful beaches and picturesque harbors.

Individual paper proposals should include a maximum 200-word abstract plus the professional credentials/affiliations of the author/presenter.

Panels should include a maximum 200-word abstract plus the specific titles of each individual paper and the professional credentials/affiliations of chair, presenters, and discussant/commentator.
